《追风筝的人》读书笔记第四章与第五章

Part 1 Words and Expressions

1. close in on: 包围，迫近

if a group of people close in on someone or something, they gradually move closer to them from all sides so that they surround them in a threatening way

例句The divers were surrounded by three sharks which were rapidly closing in on them.

原文例句：Hassan retreated behind me as the three older boys closed in.

2.coax sb into/out of (doing) sth

例句：We had to coax Alan into going to school. 我们只好哄着艾伦去上学。

原文例句：And every year, his eyes betrayed him and we coaxed the goods out of him.每年他的眼神都出卖他，我们都能从他口里将礼物套出来。

3.be/ get used to (doing) something:

to have experienced something so that it no longer seems surprising, difficult, strange etc:习惯于干某事

例句：I do the dishes everyday,so i am used to it.

used to do：表示过去经常干某事

例句：He used to go to our school.他过去经常来我们学校。

原文例句：For a while, he used to ask Hassan what he wanted.曾经，他经常问哈桑想要什么.

4.wear off: If a drug, sensation, or feeling wears off, it disappears slowly until it no longer exists or has any effect. (药性、感觉、感情等) 逐渐消失

例句：For many the philosophy was merely a fashion, and the novelty soon wore off. 对很多人而言这种哲学只是一时时髦，新鲜感很快就消失了。

原文例句：But when the numbing medicine wore off later that night, it felt like someone had pressed a red hot coal to my loins.但那天深夜，麻醉药的药性消退之后，感觉像有人拿着又红又热的木炭在烫我的下阴。

5.subside v

if a feeling, pain, sound etc subsides, it gradually becomes less and then stops 〔感情、痛苦、声音等〕逐渐减弱；平静下来，平息

同义词：SYN die down

例句：Simon waited until the读书笔记500字 laughter subsided.西蒙一直等到笑声平息下来。

6.ingrained adj：ingrained attitudes or behaviour are firmly established and therefore difficult to change 〔态度或行为〕根深蒂固的，难以改变的

例句：The idea of doing our duty is deeply ingrained in most people.

恪尽职守这一信念在大多数人的心里根深蒂固。

Part 2 Summary

In chapter 4 and 5,the gap between Amir and his father gets bigger thanks to his father's aloofness against him. Amir finds a substitute,Rahim Khan,his father's close friend, to comfort his lonely heart. Hasson, as a good playmate he is, inspires and encourages Amir to realize his talent of writing.Amir shares his first story with three people, his father,Rahim Khan and Hasson, but only obtaining positive response from the last two. The one who he cares most dosn't care what he has written， which hurts Amir a lot. Life has often changed in an unexpected way. No body could escape the overwhelming influence of society. Amir and Hassan's lives have been imperceptibly affected owning to a political coup.It is too early to say that a harelip surgeory on Hassan is a good thing for now, cause it is only the chapter 5 and lots of things unknown ahead await for discovering.

Part 3 Reflections

读到第5章，我心中充满了好奇和未知，故事究竟会怎么发展呢？总是有一种莫名的悲剧感由上心头，感觉像个悲剧。在读这本书之前，我稍微查了一下，这本书还拍过电影。电影的海报很引入注目，两个天真烂漫的娃娃，仰望天空，用眼神去追逐天空[www.dhgfw.com]那虚无缥缈的风筝。一张照片，我看不出更多的故事，但是那种凄凉感总是挥之不去。说心里话，我羡慕Amir他出生就携着的金钥匙，可以很好的读书，受教育，找到自己的兴趣和方向，虽然他缺乏母爱，父亲又不理解他，但是比起Hasson，在某种程度上他是幸运的，因为至少，他可以通过知识来掌握自己的命运，而Hasson呢？出生就是奴隶的束缚，将制约他一生。心跟着这两位起起伏伏，继续读，继续探索！

Part 4 Useful sentences

在随后几年，喀布尔的人们不时将“经济发展”、“改革”之类的词挂在嘴边。
